Model Boat Mayhem Traders Directory The best information source for commercial sources of UK model boat supplies which can be searched using keywords. Rather than repeat that information, below we only list some sources of modelling supplies in the SRCMBC area, and also some other resources which members have found useful.

Channel 4 Models Mainly planes, helicopters, and cars, but an extensive stock of RC gear, materials, glues, etc. Situated on Charminster Road, Bournemouth.

Just Add imagination in Botley, Model Shop is upstairs, mainly plastic kits but a very good range of paints and weathering powders, glues, tools etc. Their on-line model shop is Just Kits and Models.

Lesro Models Local Model shop near Christchurch. They mainly sell cars and planes but they still stock a few boats or boat kits, and they do have useful stuff for the RC Model Boater.

Mainly Planes N Trains Actually almost entirely planes and trains, but they do stock a good range of modelling materials, RC gear, etc. and are helpful in ordering parts not in stock. Situated in Chandlers Ford. (NB I'm not sure if this shop is still trading - September 2011)

Westbourne Model Centre One of the largest stockists of model boats in England. They currently have on display some 300 model boats split between static 'Plank on Frame' and Radio Control kits. In addition they stock a wide range of model Boat fittings, radios, electric motors, and steam plants, plus many other accessories for model boats.

 Just Kits and Models is the specialist website for modellers from Just Add imagination, a model store in Botley, near Southampton (see above). A good source of paints and weathering materials for SRCMBC members. They also sell a wide range of plastic kits.

 MarksModelBits A new company based in South Wales. Manufacture the "Foggy" Mist Maker smoke unit, and sell motors, servos and more. Will custom make smoke units to fit in your boat. Email: Mark.

 ModelBoatBits A new (April 2010) company run by Steve Tranter who is a member of Chasewater MBC and Kingswinford MBC. A supplier to Mountfleet Models they manufacture various component's in-house plus a growing selection of model boat parts and fittings.

 Radio Controlled Model Hovercraft. Web retailer selling Hovercraft Kits and assembled models.

Halfords Motor parts stores. You knew that, but remember that they sell wires, connectors, and fuses designed for high amps at around 12V DC, just like what you have in your model; also spray paints, etc.

HobbyCraft Chain of "Warehouse" type Craft Shops providing a source of materials and tools. Imagination needed to use their stuff on a model boat but can be useful!

HobbyStores Not hugely into boats but if you have a nearby store, a good source of modelling supplies with knowledgeable staff. Have a branch in Southampton.

Maplin Electronics components and more. Also cheap RC boats, cars etc. which usually need proper RC gear fitted but then go well! Named after Maplin Sands, off Southend.

MUTR An Aladdin's Cave of useful materials and technology. Originally Middlesex University Teaching Resources, the web site has grown and grown. Some of their products are stocked by Maplin.
