The real "Bluebird of Chelsea" in Southampton
There are two fine models in the club of the 1931 motor yacht "Bluebird of Chelsea". The original, built by Thornycrofts of Southampton and previously owned by Sir Malcolm Campbell, was amongst the "Dunkirk Little Ships" on display at Southampton Maritime Festival 2013. On the 6th May, your intrepid reporter was out on the water viewing them, more photos of Bluebird and the Festival can be seen via the Latest Photos Gallery.
Tall Ships Rule - OK!
It's beginning to feel as if the Club has a "Sailing Section" and a "Tall Ships Section"! See the Latest Photos Gallery for more evidence!
At last the car park is now almost completely dry and the last couple of weeks have seen some fine new models taking to the pond.
Information about the Club and the Pond!
A double page handout giving information about both sections of the club is now available. It can be downloaded from the Members Information page or printed copies are available from the Scale Captain.
There is also a new movie Setley Pond - The Story of an Industrial Landscape which illustrates the History of Setley Pond from Victorian times. Included are post World War 2 aerial photos of the pond (right) and the Setley Plain Prisoner of War Camp.
