Members' AdvertsAdverts are in order of submission, newest first, however the left hand index gives an alphabetic menu. Where a boat model is being offered for sale by an SRCMBC member there may well be more photos of it in our Photo Galleries - look under the seller's name.
This is a free service offered to SRCMBC Members for private (i.e. non-commercial) model boat related sales. To place an Advert please read our Guidance on Advert submission. Radio Control Transmitters, Receivers, and crystalsThe following are offered by myself, Peter Taylor, "webmaster" on this site. No, I haven't given up model boats, I've decided to use 2.4 GHz in future.
Fortunately my pathetically small number of models makes a total migration to higher frequencies just about economically possible! Where the gear is still current I'm offering it at well below half price (the "price new" is based, not on what I paid, but the latest Howes Models Catalogue prices... which nowadays are generally much cheaper than what I paid). Other gear is being offered "for free". However this is all based on "buyer collects" either from my home in Southampton, UK, or the club site at Setley pond. If you want it posted I will get a quote; outside the UK it's probably not worth it (except for the 40MHz FM gear which really is a bargain). Except where noted, it's all been checked to be in good working order on the day I'm typing this in (end November 2008). In all cases "batteries not included"! Consists of the following:
40MHz AM crystals (free)
I always wondered why this "pair" didn't work!!! (so not tested!) Places like Hobby Stores sell individual Tx and Rx crystals to allow these to be united with their long lost companions! They are Futaba type.
27MHz FM 3-channel package (free) (gone!)
Getting the battery cover onto the Tx is a knack, otherwise this used to work OK and still does as far as I know. If anyone wants it by post I would check it out before sending. I must admit, I didn't know that 27MHz FM existed, I suspect further crystals may be hard to come by. However it's a free three channel set; might suit a submarine (better under-water penetration due to the relatively low frequency?).
27MHz AM "Split-Frequency" crystals
Three sets of those valuable "split-frequency" crystals that can get you on the pond when the peg board is almost empty!

A newsletter, initially published by the Wembley Ship Model Society. In around 1957, the newsletter became the Journal of the "Ship Model Societies".
I have some 11 issues published between December 1954 and sometime around 1960... Vol 2 Issue 3, Vols. 3, 4 (3 issues each) Vol. 5 Issues 2 & 3 and Vol.6, Issues 1 & 2) Each issue is substantial, around 50 pages long and contains photographs and fold out ship plans. Given the technology of the day, producing each issue must have been a major undertaking and it's no surprise that they slipped from a 3 times a year schedule to a less taxing timetable. It's an intriguing glimpse into model boat making in the past. The set is for sale with the proceeds to be divided equally between the RNLI and The Samaritans. For that reason I will be advertising the volumes in a number of model boat sites in order to try to get the best return. However, I'm advertising it here first, so if you are interested, give us your bid and, when I've seen what is on offer, I will let you know the outcome. I've found a web site in the States advertising a similar collection of these magazines for $350... but it has been on sale for quite some time, so don't be put off making an offer! Contact me, Peter Taylor. I'm hoping to put up more details on this web site, meanwhile, here are some more example pages... | |
