Welcome to our Club web site! Mostly we describe the Scale Section of the Solent Radio Controlled Model Boat Club, however we also have some pages about the Sailing Section and their Model Yacht Racing.

Recent News (December, 2009 - January, 2010)
Photos of Setley Pond on Sunday, 10th January, taken by David McNair-Taylor (view as a photo album). An increasing easterley wind has blown snow across the ice and the Brockenhurst to Lymington railway line (which runs close to the pond) has been struggling to provide a service.
January 6th and snow covers much of southern England. Here are some photos of what it was like at Setley pond. The snow was nowhere near as deep as other places nearby, even so, don't expect much model boat action! The last photo shows the area behind the car park... lots of solid water and very wintery!
On Boxing Day the Setley Cup and Seahorse Trophy Junior Model Yacht Regatta, organised by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, took place at Setley Pond; a tradition which has been maintained for some 50 years! A report of the action and the results is available (pdf file, 68Kb). The photographs by Michael Derrick show the winning monohull, winning multihull, and the two winning yachts together.

A New Year and a New Pond... the water level is higher and the island has disappeared, but on the 3rd January the pond's got a solid lid on it! What's more the weather forecast does not promise a thaw; maybe the Setley Pond Gulf Stream has shut down!
The 2009 Christmas Lunch was held at the South Lawn Hotel Milford-on-Sea, on 12th December. An excellent time was had by all and there are some photos in our Latest Events gallery. The raffle raised £100 for "Help for Heroes" and £56 for "Macmillan Nurses" (see our Club Charities page). Many thanks to Lorna for organising the event.
